When Katherine and I are out birding, if I’m not seeing anything new or exciting, I’ll practice certain skills. Usually that means capturing birds in flight — just as they take off. That’s usually the most interesting look. In flight, the smaller birds sometimes just look like a bullet; they are much more fun as they take off.
