Even Birds Bathe

You’ve seen the California Towhee before. But not like this…

Or, maybe you have.

In case you haven’t, though, here is a picture of a Towhee who took advantage of a homemade birdbath in our backyard.

California Towhee. Panasonic DC-FZ80, handheld, 1/1300 sec., f/5.6, ISO 800. Santa Cruz, California.

Should I have put out fresh towels?

Special thanks to my yoga friend, Nancy K., for giving Katherine and me the idea of creating a birdbath with just a large bowl of water on a stand.

We’ve seen Crows, Black Phoebes, Bushtits and others avail themselves of the opportunity to cool down and clean up.
